Nico Schramma was awarded the Emerging Soft Matter Excellence (ESME) award during the APS Global Physics Summit in Anaheim, California.
After giving a talk on his work about chloroplast motion in marine algae, “Light-controlled Chloroplast Network Morphodynamics in single celled Algae”, in a special session alongside the other 13 finalists, a jury of the APS division of soft matter (DSOFT) decided to grant him this student-award.
More about the ESME award and this year’s finalists can be read here.
Furthermore, the photo of chloroplasts in single celled algae also won the Image competition of the APS Division of Biophysics (DBIO).
