“Theoretical Physics route---Statistical Physics “Building Block”

In this route students must enrol in the Theoretical Physics MSc track. This track involves a compulsory component of 21EC = 6EC Condensed Matter Theory + 9EC of quantum field theory + 6EC student seminar. Students must also complete 21ECs of elective courses selected from Physics and related disciplines, and 6EC of academic skills. In addition, students can choose 12ECs from any UvA/VU MSc program (“free electives”), and are expected to complete a 60EC research thesis. This route caters to students with a strong inclination towards theoretical statistical physics.

  • 1) Basic Probability: Theory† (block 1, 3EC, IvI).
  • 2) Scientific Computing and Programming (block 4, 6EC, HIMS/VU).
  • 3) Complex System Simulation (block 6, 6EC, IvI).
